What do Mums and Mums to be do in Plumstead? Are there any yoga/fitness classes suitable for pregnant ladies and then where do they all go afterwards? Are there any decent nurseries or nannies? I would be really interested to hear what you did when you were pregnant and on maternity leave in the area..

I have a 7 week old baby and I found the Arches in Greenwich was an excellent place for Ante natal yoga and swimming...a bit of a trek if ,like me you have no car but worth it and I met loads of other mums to be - we are still in contact. As for coffee or lunch we went to Pistaccios in Greenwich.A bit slack on service but generally good and room for more people out the back. NCT classes were also where I met my main group of friends - a godsend when you need someone to relate to and compare notes if its your first baby!!

The NCT (National Childbirth Trust) is very active in this area. You don't need to have attended anti-natal classes to benefit.
I girded my loins and contacted the area rep when my first child was approaching his first year. If I hadn't, I'd have gone stir crazy!
We hold 'open houses', trips, events, nights in, nights out. The 'open house' meetings provide a great opportunity for your child/ren to meet others, and for you to meet other mums/mums-to-be and, even, dads, to exchange experiences, advice and to swap info on local and other facilities.
The NCT has variously been reputed to be cliquey, hippyish or ultra-feminist. This is Plumstead, though... so expect everyone to be friendly and without airs.

Thanks am off to NCT classes soon and have also gone to The Arches and found a Pilates class too. Luckily have a couple of friends not too far away who will also be on maternity leave at the same time as me and I guess antenatal classes should kick up some more local types who I can go and drink gin - sorry tea - with..

Are there any Mother & Baby groups in the area that anyone can recommend. I go to Greenwich to meet up with my ante natal class but would like to meet some local mums too.
