Thought I'd liven up this forum with a new thread- it's been a bit empty recently!
I read with interest today that Crossrail has FINALLY been approved, with a station to be built at Woolwich Arsenal! What do people think the effect on Plumstead will be???

well an article in one of the free papers reckons that in Abbey Wood house prices are currently an average of £270k and will rise to around £800k in 10 years time. Not sure where they got their info from. The cross rail and DLR will definitely make a difference to Plumstead house prices. You can see the effect already and there seems to be steady stream of professionals moving in to the area. However without any local amenities people are still going to be attracted by other local places - Shooters Hill, Woolwich, AW etc over Plumstead. It is a shame because the Common area of Plumstead is actually the nicest looking area and has the most potential. There are a number of pubs on the common and sadly a number of empty shops near the Shell Garage and the old Cake shop - jsut waiting for someone to do something with them (and I dont mean a carpet shop or takeaway)!!!!
