I went to this on Sunday - got a tshirt! What a magnificent building, its just a shame we were only allowed a short time in there. If it was open more I'd definitely visit regularly. I had a laugh walking round imagining I'd just bought the place and planning which rooms would be the kids bedrooms and where I'd put the telly!
The view from the top was amazing, to the north you could see the arch of Wembley Stadium which I think is about 21 miles away, and to the south you could easily see the ridge of the North Kent Downs.
How Greenwich Council could let such a rare and interesting building fall into such disrepair is criminal. While their fat-cats are lining their pockets thru companies like Tilfen Land, they seem quite happy to let a genuine architectural and historical treasure slowly crumble away.

wow I'm kicking myself now that I didn't make it...I remember seeing it on that preservation telly thingy the other year. Could you REALLY see Wembley? Sounds amazing.

Yeh you could see wembley clearly - it looks a bit like the london eye but at a slant.
You can also see it from the entrance to Shrewsbury Park (by brinklow crescent).
Obviously a clear day helps but it looks best at night if they light up the arch.
